Appointed in September 2006, our Rector is the Revd Ian Thompson.

Ian is a graduate in Economics from the University of Hull. He worked in industry for 20 years in the field of financial administration, and then in the voluntary sector as Treasurer to a Christian Mission Agency. In 1994 he was selected for appointment to the Ordained ministry and trained on the Northern Ordination Course between 1994 and 1997.

Following Ordination in September 1997, he served his title as Curate of St Andrew's Church, Blackley in north Manchester, and was appointed Priest-in-charge there in September 2000. He served a further six years in St Andrew's before sensing God's call to St Margaret's Church, Burnage last year.

Ian is married to Jane (a licensed Reader in the Manchester Diocese), and they have four grown up children - three married daughters and a son at university in Preston. They have just become grandparents for the first time!
