The sandstone built parish Church of St. Margaret’s, Burnage, was consecrated on 15th March 1875 by the Bishop of Manchester. During the following 126 years, the Church building has been extended to meet the demands of an ever-changing congregation. In 1998, a major refurbishment resulted in the oak pulpit, choir stalls and pews being removed and replaced by 250 comfortable chairs. The interior of the Church was fully carpeted and benefits from an excellent sound system and greatly improved lighting. Greater flexibility in seating arrangements has enhanced the congregation’s involvement in worship, enabled the Church to be used as the venue for Alpha courses and has meant that, for example, a visiting theatre group could perform “in the round”! |
