 Building Project

St Margaret’s has had two major building projects. We have reordered the church at a cost of about £200,000, the money being raised by sacrificial giving of church members. Work on a new hall, called the Parish Centre, started by demolition of the existing hall in October 2004 (a picture of this hall can be seen in the Parish Profile of 2002) and rebuilding finished in September 2005. This phase cost about £415,000, the majority being given by further sacrificial giving of church members. There are opportunities for it to be used by the community. Further donations and gifts are welcome!

The milestones in the project were:

1995-   Launch of the project.

1998-   Completion of the reordering of the church.  Features included:

  • Removal of the pews.
  • Replacement with chairs.
  • Fully carpeted throughout.
  • Improved lighting.
  • Improved sound facilities.
  • Improved heating.

2004-   Demolition of the original hall.

2005-   Building of new facilities. The facilities include:

  • A main hall.
  • Two meeting rooms.
  • The church office in one of the meeting rooms.
  • A wide corridor which can be used as a meeting room.
  • A kitchen.
  • Toilets, including those for the disabled.
